Coworking spaces are popping up everywhere, from art spaces to industrial spaces to beachfront spaces with board racks at the entrance – if you want to get out of your home office, shared spaces are a flexible and a low cost option for new businesses.

For many entrepreneurs, remote workers and freelancers, a cool space to work with good vibes, free coffee and Friday afternoon drinks is all you need – but for those that have big goals in sight – those looking to develop groundbreaking technologies, break into international markets or dominate a market sector, there is a greater level of support, knowledge and connection required. For these business founders, locating themselves in an incubator or connected innovation space that can provide strong government, industry and international contacts and assistance can be the difference between success and failure.

The Gold Coast Innovation Hub was formed 2 years ago to specifically address the needs of businesses with high growth potential and to bridge the gap that occurs after they have developed a product or service that is meeting the needs of a customer segment and now require additional funds, expertise and resources to be able to roll out the product or service at scale nationally and internationally.

The Gold Coast Innovation Hub is focussed on actively helping its community members to make the leap from early business traction to business growth with access to investment and grants, educational programs and events that can accelerate product development and the customer acquisition processes, strategic partnerships with service providers, government and industry bodies and international business groups that can help to facilitate market entry and business development in new regions and countries and working with each of the member in the space to provide publicity and exposure.

Building networks, partnerships and alliances that our members can leverage is another key focus for us. Co-located at the Gold Coast Innovation Hub is investment firm, 42 Ventures and community groups Gold Coast Techspace and IT Forum Gold Coast that help to attract events and visiting experts to the workspace. A huge database of experienced local business people and over 20 corporate partners participate in our member mentoring program to provide first hand experience, referrals and recommendations to our members. On an international level, the Gold Coast Innovation Hub serves as the Australian representative for the Commonwealth Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs (CAYE) connecting members with global networks and opportunities.

There are many great places to base a business, but if your primary business goal is expansion, then look for a space that has the connections you need, rather than a co-working space and surround yourself with a network that is as committed to your growth as you are.
